Social Justice is at the core of our business
Bicycle Accounting exists to amplify the work of organizations and individuals who are advancing social justice. We support the organization(s) to more efficiently and effectively use capital and other resources, and we support the individuals who work in these organizations by promoting a safe and just workplace for employees. We support clients to amplify their mission and increase the income for owners and employees. We believe that only by putting social justice at the core of our business will we be successful. We must create, and we must help our clients create a microcosm of what we want to see in the world.
We care about living wages
At Bicycle Accounting, we envision a world
- Where everyone can afford safe housing
- Where everyone has access to healthcare
- Where elders are not left destitute
To actualize our vision, we have committed to the following for all of our employees:
- A living wage (MIT Living Wage Calculator)
- 100% coverage for health insurance.
- 5% contributions to retirement funds
We also commit to healthy boundaries, a reasonable work schedule, and friendly clients. We work with all of our clients to achieve the same standard for their employees while simultaneously helping them to create a strong, sustainable, and profitable organization.
We care about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Finance and accounting are not immune to embedded white supremacy, implicit biases, or unchecked privilege. We do not claim expertise in DEI work. However, our approach is intentionally anti-racist, seeking to identify and transform oppressive practices and assumptions and, where appropriate, to transfer knowledge, skill, and decision-making tools to the communities we serve.
